Introduction to Aggregates & Sand Pit Operation, Optimization & General Maintenance is an immersive 1.5-day, in-person training designed to strengthen practical quarry and pit performance through modern operating methods, equipment decision-making, and cost-aware optimization. Held November 6–7, 2024 in Golden, Colorado, the course helps participants improve day-to-day operational judgement and drive better outcomes across the production chain.
Participants can expect a blend of expert-led instruction on current techniques and innovations in quarrying, along with hands-on workshops featuring equipment demonstrations and interactive activities. The format also includes opportunities for networking with peers and Q&A sessions with industry leaders, making the learning highly applied and immediately relevant to operations.
The curriculum focuses on the technical and operational drivers of efficient aggregate and sand pit production, including quality control, how equipment selection affects productivity and downstream processes, and how environmental impacts and sustainability considerations influence operational planning. The course also emphasizes the financial side of performance—covering financial considerations and calculations and how decisions such as bucket and excavator sizing affect excavating and handling costs. Participants will also examine factors that influence excavatability, explore crushing and screening methods and selection, and review conveyor belts and transportation concepts that support efficient material movement from excavation to final product.
This course is ideal for professionals across quarry and pit operations, including Quarry Managers, Operations Supervisors, Engineers & Technicians, Safety Officers, Environmental Managers, and others focused on achieving quarrying excellence. Limited spots are available.
