Petr Explosive Training School (PETS) November 2025

The Petr Explosive Training course is a collaboration with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment that offers basic- essential training for inexperienced blasters on general explosives regulations and best practices procedures, emphasizing practical knowledge. The topics covered will include regulatory components (explosives safety, handling, storage, and applications) with an overview of the current explosive regulations for the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) . This course may count towards the required experience for the Colorado State Explosives Permit. Also, this class will be specifically tailored to examine the current, correct industrial practices for explosive handling and use in Colorado and the United States. This program is designed for all classifications of Type 1 applicants: Special Use, Transporter, Geophysical Exploration, Avalanche Control, Construction Limited, and Construction.

The registration fee includes course tuition, course materials, lunch and refreshments at breaks.

Upon Completion…

After completing this course, each participant will obtain a State-approved certificate for 16 hours of continuing education.  This is the amount required over the three years prior to permit renewal for Type I permit holders.
