Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are excited to offer our 8-hour and 16-hour classes for blasters who need new and renewal California, Colorado, Indiana,Missouri, Wyoming and Washington, Utah explosive licenses. This course is self-paced, can be completed at any time, and requires only minimal computer skills. These courses cover current Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and States explosive regulations for applications and storage, as well as general explosive safety and use. In addition to the course materials, the participants will have access to a live Q&A session with industry experts via video conference.
Petr Explosives Group – Education Foundation are offer both online and/or in-person and provide participants with certifications that are recognized by industry professional associations including the International Makers of Explosives (IME) and the International Society of Explosive Engineers (ISEE). In addition, students have the option of engaging in hands-on real-life practical experience in various unique laboratory settings.
Tier 1: Practical Explosives Training School (PETS) Upon completion of the program, participants will obtain a fundamental understanding of federal and state explosives regulations. Attendees will also be able to submit an application for explosive permits and variances, communicate with fire departments and law enforcement agencies with respect to magazine storage and quantity and will be able to solve any regulatory issues with federal and state regulators.
Tier 2: Upon successfully completion the second tier of our Energetic Materials (explosives) course, undergraduate and graduate students will advance their educational foundation which will facilitate the pursuit of a degree, with an emphasis on energetic (explosives) materials. Additionally, students will advance and expand job/career opportunities in the private explosives industry or in government national laboratories and agencies.
Tier 3: This program is for professionals and graduate students interested in advancing their skills and knowledge beyond the classroom in a highly specialized setting for energetic (explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics ) materials. Each class will explain the current education knowledge and process to study, measure and analyze detonation phenomena. These classes can be taken independently or by groups of lessons learned. The particular emphases help explaining basic terms that the new and existing technologies to investigate before, during, and aftershock wave parameters on structures and humans. Participants will be an overview of the current state of the art of High fidelity detonation physic methods such as ultra-high imaging technologies, instrumentation, and measurements and explosives applications such as mining and construction blasting (both surface and underground), explosives bonding (cladding, welding ), explosives industry cleaning, avalanche mitigation and special use of explosives gaining knowledge and practical expertise in world-renowned cutting-edge technologies and applications. These skills are imperative for rapid advancement and new career opportunities and promotions.
We additionally have many available research and testing capabilities including detonation properties and safety analysis. With our explosives test facility we can measure high fidelity shock front velocity and overpressure using ultra-high-speed camera imaging and multiple gauges.
