Numerical Modeling Capability for Oil Well Perforators (OWP)

Numerical modeling for shaped charges including commercial applications such as oil well perforators (OWP) and military applications. The shaped charge technology connects the borehole to the oil and gas reservoir by creating small, deep channels. To be able to optimize these tools, a non-linear explicit ANSYS_AUTODYN solver is used. Due to the velocity gradient between the explosive charge and the liner, the jet is created.

Do you know that the performance of the OWP in terms of its penetration depth for a given target depends mainly on the type and the amount of the explosive used, the linear geometry, and liner material? We have also studied other parameters, such as the charge confinement and the mode of initiation, which also have evident effects on jet characteristics and penetration capability.

Let us help your company set up similar FEA studies on all types of OWPs and develop customized standards for design, experiments, and production.
